Chinmaya Mission, Hindu religious and spiritual organization engaged in the dissemination of Vedanta, has issued a legal notice to the makers of Marathi web series ‘Aani Kai Hava’ which streams on MX player, for allegedly defaming Swami Chinmayananda in the series.
The legal notice states that in a scene, a character explains to another character that he named his dog ‘Chinu’ after the spiritual guru. The notice states that the Mission is extremely shocked at the makers intentionally making making fun of Swami Chinmayananda whose teachings on Vedanta are still being carried out throughout the world.
The notice further states that Mission is very offended by giving a dog the name Chinu and further explaining that it is derived from the name of Swami Chinmayananda. The notice states that the makers making fun in such a way is the lowest thing anyone can do for publicity or gaining TRP. The notice further states that it can never be imagined how someone can stoop to this level in the media industry.
According to the notice, this act has not only defamed Swami Chinmayananda but has also hurt the sentiments of the Mission. The notice states that the makers of the web series are trying to spoil and defame the name of Swami Chinmayananda in front of its viewers with deliberate and criminal intention of hurting his devotees. The notice states that a lot of people have seen the series already and it has resulted in spoiling the image of Swami Chinmayananda in the eyes of many. According to the notice, it is the duty of the makers of the web series to create content that does not hurt the sentiments of people at large or defame a spiritual human being.
The notice demands the makers to remove the objectionable content from Season 2 Episode 1 of the web series and tender unconditional written apology to the mission in three days failing which the mission will be constrained to initiate legal proceedings for criminal defamation.
