The Supreme Court has Today issued notice in another plea filed challenging notification providing 27% reservation for OBC and 10% reservation for EWS in 50% All India Quota seats contributed by the States in admission to the Post Graduate Medical Courses.

A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice BV Nagarathna said that we are allready hearing petitions on similar issue, we'll issue notice and tag the matter along with them.

The plea filed by medical students through Advocate Vivek Singh sated that the impugned notification is in contravention of the Judgment passed by the Apex Court in the Union of India Vs. R Rajeshwaran and Anr. holding that the reservation should not apply to the seats of All India Quota.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued notice in similar petitions challenging the amended reservation(s) policy by the Government of India.

The plea states, "Excessive reservation compromises the minimum standar of education. The Government cannot compromise the standard of education or lower the efficiency of scholars to the detriment of national interest."

The plea further said that the All India Quota Scheme is in existence for the last 35 years (since 1986) and the application of OBC reservation to AIQ seats after 35 years of its existence is arbitrary, unjustified and against public interest.
