Recently hearing a bail applicant, the Delhi High Court has imposed unique conditions making use of modern digital technology. The court has released the applicant on bail directing him to drop a Google pin from his mobile phone to the Investigating Officer (IO) concerned to keep him updated about his current location.
Relying on modern digital technology, a bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Amit Bansal granted interim bail till November 18, 2021 to a declared Proclaimed Offender.
The Bench before granting relief to the applicant perused the status report filed by the State which showed that the appellant was involved in five other cases, but he was acquitted under each one of them.
The bench has also directed the applicant to provide his mobile phone number to the IO concerned – at the time of release, which he shall keep in working condition at all times.
"The appellant shall not switch-off, or change the mobile phone number without prior intimation to the IO concerned, during the period of interim bail", further adds the order.
The Court has also asked the applicant to telephonically call the IO concerned every alternate day at 11:00 a.m. to mark his presence.
"On each such occasion, the appellant shall drop a Google pin from his mobile phone to the IO concerned so as to inform the IO about the current location of the appellant;", the Order states.
