Plea in Delhi High Court by Gen. Secy. of Jubilee Hall Student Union (DU) alleging arbitrary eviction & derecognition of his post

Delhi High Court has allowed additional documents to be filed in a petition by the elected General Secretary of Jubilee Hall Students Union, Delhi University against the allegedly arbitrary eviction and derecognition of his post.

The petitioner has stated that he is a Ph.D student at Delhi University, has been residing in Jubilee Hall Hostel since June 2017 and has held the position of General Secretary since May, 2019. He has filed the present petition against the Provost, the warden and resident tutor of Jubilie Hall, Delhi University, who are imploded as respondents therein.

The petitioner contends that he was served notice from the respondents on false and frivolous grounds, while he was only trying to put the needs and demands of the residents of Jubilee Hall before the authorities, who immediately issued to him a letter alleging that he was indulging in indisciplined behaviour.

The Respondents have also declared him as unfit to participate in their meetings.

On 4th January 2021, a notice was issued to the Petitioner from the Respondents, derecognising him from the post of General Secretary, Jublie Hall Students Union. The Petitioner contends that the said notice was arbitrary and did not give him an opportunity to be heard. The said notice allegedly also did not state the reason for his derecognition.

The Petitioner was also given another notice on 12th January 2022, directing him to vacate Jubilee Hall within 03 days’ time, without allegedly giving any justification. The Petitioner has also been expelled by the Respondents.

The petition has been filed through his advocates, Satyam Singh Rajput, Amit Kumar Sharma ,Diwas Kumar and Shashikant Patel
