The Bombay High Court today asked the Union and Maharashtra Government to forget past conflicts regarding their difference on constructing the Mumbai Metro car shed at Kanjurmarg.
"We are all here to serve the public, why bring your differences in court?", asked the High Court.
The Central government today informed the Bombay High Court about operational difficulties on construction of a depot at Kanjurmarg in the Mumbai Metro plan.
To this, a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni said that the issues must be resolved by June 10th.
"We hope that the technical issues are sorted out by June 10th, make your stand clear. After all it's our money, everyday the cost is escalating", said the bench.
Maharashtra Government further told the Court that it would compensate whoever is finally found entitled to the Kanjurmarg plot which was being used for the metro depot.
In October 2020, the state government had announced the scrapping of the car shed at Aarey Milk Colony and said the project would instead come up on land at Kanjurmarg.
Against this, the Union government had claimed that the Kanjurmarg land belonged to it.
In this regard, interim applications were filed against the Unions' claim stating that it didn't own the land, and therefore the High Court stay on construction of the Mumbai Metro integrated car shed at Kanjurmarg should be lifted.
MMRDA, who is undertaking the Metro construction, had issued a statement recently saying that it was willing to pay whoever was finally found to be the owner of the land but the project should go on.
