Justice Chandra Dhari Singh of the Delhi High Court judge has recused himself from hearing a plea moved by Enforcement Directorate (ED) against the trial court order, that allowed Congress leader P Chidambaram and other accused persons to inspect the documents in the INX media case pertaining to money laundering.

The judge recused himself from hearing the plea and directed it to be listed before the bench of the Acting Chief Justice for appropriate directions.

ED had moved Court against a Special Court order which allowed the accused to inspect documents relating to the case, previously the Court has dismissed a similar plea by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as well in this regard.

Justice Mukta Gupta of the Delhi High Court had dismissed the plea filed by the CBI challenging an order permitting the inspection of documents by the accused in the INX media case involving former Union Minister P Chidambaram, his son Karti and others.

The agency had registered its case on May 15, 2017, alleging irregularities in a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance granted to INX Media group for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during Chidambaram’s tenure as finance minister. Thereafter, the ED had lodged the money laundering case.
