Delhi Police on Friday informed the Delhi High Court that they will provide adequate security for the operation of a liquor store, the petitioner and its employees for ingress and egress to the liquor vendor.
A single-judge bench of Justice Rekha Palli directed the order to "be subject to the continued validity of the liquor license in favour of the petitioner."
The petition has been filed by Universal Distributors seeking directions to take adequate steps to ensure that the petitioner is in a position to run his liquor vend without any hindrance or disturbance from the unlawful protestors sitting outside the said vend and damaging its premises.
Advocate Santosh Kumar Tripathi appearing for the Delhi Government had submitted that adequate steps will be taken to ensure that no interference is caused in the smooth functioning of the aforesaid liquor vend being run by the petitioner.
Counsel appearing for the petitioner had submitted that various representations have been placed before the SHO, Samaypur Badli seeking adequate security to the petitioner and its employees for ingress and egress to the liquor vend run by the petitioner, but no action has been taken till date.
The bench while disposing of the plea noted, "In the light of the aforesaid stand taken by the respondents, no further orders are called for in the present petition."
