Dwarka Court on Tuesday has stayed the opening of a private liquor store in a residential area of Janakpuri in an application filed by A5B/A5C Residents Welfare Association, Janakpuri

Vaishali Singh, Civil Judge, Dwarka Court said that there is a prima facie case that may lead to public nuisance because of which the defendants number 1 & 2 are directed not to open the liquor shop till the next date of hearing.

An application filed by A5B/A5C Residents Welfare Association, Janakpuri through Advocates Mohit Rana and Abhimanyu Lall stated that allowance of license for opening a liquor store in the residential area "caused a alarm & a situation of fear and panic in the mind of the residents of the said block and in the mind of the residents of other nearby residential blocks that if the liquor shop is allowed to open in the said  block then it shall certainly cause nuisance."

Rana and Lall submitted that one of the major openings for the village Possangipur passes through the property in question or the property likely to cause a nuisance to the society.

Whereas, the village Possangipur is one of the oldest villages of Brahmans in West Delhi and is well known for religious tourism and for many eminent religious places like Sanatan-Dharam Mandir, Baba Peer ki Majaar, Sai Mandir, and a Mata Sthal.

The application stated that the property in question is located in a residential area within close proximity of big Temple, Gurudwara, Church, several schools, children's park, and Hospital.

It was further added that "the opening of the said Liquor Shop shall certainly cause gathering of Liquor buyers which will cause a road rage situation as the same road is not provided with any parking facility by the Govt. or the MCD. It is a serious concern that if the said road is blocked by cause of traffic jam then it shall certainly hamper the commutation of the Ambulances services or the people trying to reach the above said hospitals in cases of emergency."
