"Cabinet decided to sanction Rs. 9000 Crores for development of infrastructure of lower Judiciary," Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Law and Judiciary

Minister of Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju has said that the Cabinet has decided to sanction Rs. 9000 Crores for the development of the infrastructure of the lower Judiciary which will be pooled together between Central and State governments.

Rijiju was speaking at the Inaugural Function of the Annexe Building of Bombay High Court, Bench at Aurangabad

Rijiju said that “the Central Government will provide Rs. 5357 Crores for the purpose of construction of 3800 Court Halls, 4000 residential units for the Judicial Officers in all the District and Subordinate Court, we have made provision for 1450 Lawyers Halls with the expenditure of Rs. 700 Crores, we are going to construct 1450 Toilet Complexes and there will be 3800 digital computer rooms.”

He also said that Supreme Court has emerged as a global leader with over 96239 virtual hearings till July 9, 2021, and an upgraded cloud-based VC infrastructure with the latest features and robust securities is also being developed by NIC.

In addition to this Rijiju also said that as part of the Aatm Nirbhar Bharat App Challenge, Indian-made Video Conferencing App "Bharat VC" has been shortlisted and is still under trial for use as a uniform Video Conferencing platform.

Rijiju while talking about his recent visit to the Supreme Court said, "I, as a Minister have taken responsibility within my ministry, the other day I visited Supreme Court complex, I visited the Central Agency segment, there were tonnes and tonnes of files and papers and I was told that these ar all ongoing cases and all the papers are relevant because all are live cases. I immediately gave an order that these papers must be digitized now, this is not only a commitment but this is a compulsion, we must do it.”
