After the Delhi High Court and members of the Bar came together to facilitate arrangement of funds for the education of a girl pursuing her law degree, the girl, who preferred to remain anonymous, has written to Justice Najmi Waziri, Sr. Adv. Mohit Mathur, Adv. Kumar Prashant, the Delhi High Court Bar Association and the Advocates in question for making it possible for her to secure her legal career.

Last week, during a hearing before Justice Waziri in a case pertaining to maintenance payable, the father of the girl stated that he had no funds to make the payment for her college fees. According to the facts of the case, the father had deserted the wife and two children and expressed his inability to pay any further maintenance dues. 

Hearing this, the girl appearing before Court via video-conferencing, burst into tears while informing the Court that if she did not pay the fee before January 10, 2022, the college will not permit her to sit for her 5th Semester law examinations.

Immediately, several lawyers requested the Court to post the matter after a few minutes so the logistics of this may be looked into. The Bench was then informed that the lawyers would make sure that all dues are collected and deposited in the account of the mother of the girl.

Responding to this kind gesture, the girl said that she was deeply overwhelmed and appreciative of the kind support.  

"Our hope in the legal system never faded away, rather it got more and more strengthened in every passing day, as when our shiniest wheels were rusting causing us loss of education, legal fraternity and our trust in the legal system helped us in an unimagined way", reads the letter.

The letter further adds that since the financial burden has been lightened, the student can now focus more on the most important aspect i.e. learning.

"Your generosity has inspired us to help others and give back to the community...", she said.

Adv. Prashant Kumar had represented the mother of the law student.
