The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted 15 days medical bail to the real estate tycoon and the Managing Director of IREO Group, Lalit Goyal. According to Times Now, Lalit Goyal and others are charged under the Prevention of Money-laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 in a multi-crore real estate scam.
In the matter, the Enforcement Directorate(ED) had initiated a money-laundering probe investigation on the basis of 30 FIRs filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) across Delhi, Gurugram, Panchkula, and Ludhiana.
Now, the Punjab and Haryana high court has granted him medical bail and he would be treated at a hospital in Gurgoan, however, he has to remain in the jurisdiction of the High Court (Gurgoan) or Chandigarh.
He also has to mark his presence with the Investigation Officer of the ED twice a week. Further, his passport has also been seized. It has also been directed that in the meantime Goyal will not dispose of any of his properties in any manner.
Accordingly, granting relief to Goyal, the high court has posted the matter on March 16, 2022, for further hearing.
