A complaint has been filed against The Center for Women Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and organizers of a webinar called "Gender Resistance and Fresh Challenges In Post-2019 Kashmir," stating that the subject of the invitation depicts forceful occupation of Kashmir by Indian government.
The complainant is an advocate by the name of Vineet Jindal. The complaint states that the subject of the invitation of the seminar, ‘Gendered Resistance To Indian Occupation In Kashmir’ depicts forceful occupation of Kashmir by Indian government and this phrase has questioned the integrity and unity of the country.
The phrase "Indian Occupation of Kashmir" is clearly perceived to be the forceful occupation of Kashmir by Indian government which is not true, it has been stated. It is also said that the phrase indicates the intention of the organizers, to purposefully publicize the idea, provoke and instigate people against the Indian government, in the pretext of this webinar.
The complainant has also called for lodging of FIR against the organizers of the webinar, stating that:
“Kashmir is an integrated part of India just like any other state of India, so calling or publically popularizing it as an occupied state is an anti- national act, which not only instigates the common man but also provokes communal disharmony among the masses. The subject of Kashmir has always been a delicate and sensitive one due to involvement of the other neighboring countries who wish to create national discord, so stating the said phrase accounts to an intentional act of creating disturbance.”
The webinar was cancelled due to protest.
