Stating that the advocates of Uttar Pradesh could not get any kind of expected support during the last Corona disaster, the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh has urged the contesting political parties in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Polls to consider their demands.
Specifying the demands, a press note has been released by the Bar Council signed by its Chairman, Shireesh Kumar Mehrotra. The press note points out that around Four lakh advocates are working in the state to provide justice to society, however, they have not been able to get the required support during this pandemic.
Therefore, the Council has raised these 7 demands-
10,000/- incentive allowance per month for new advocates from the date of their registration as an advocate.
A minimum of Rs. 25,000/- monthly subsistence allowance should be given to the advocates who have continuously supported the judicial system as advocates for 40 years.
As judicial officers, experienced advocates should be employed/adjusted in cases of various tribunals, commissions, and arbitrations.
On the basis of 'No Profit, No Loss' scheme, plots/houses should be provided to the advocates through Housing Development and Development Authority in the state, district, and tehsil headquarters.
Interest-free loans for housing, office, laptop, and vehicles should be made available to the advocates of the state.
Advocate Protection Act should also be implemented and the security in the court premises must be strengthened.
Putting forth members' expectations, the Council further states that in situations like this pandemic, responsibility of the government has increased to ensure providing other facilities along with financial assistance to the advocates.
