Allahabad High Court seeks details of ongoing Police service recruitment processes in Uttar Pradesh

Allahabad High Court on Monday sought information as to whether any recruitment in the police service is under process in Uttar Pradesh and if there is any such ongoing process then details thereof regarding stage of that process.

In the suo moto matter, the Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari and Justice Piyush Agrawal directed the Standing Counsel to file an affidavit providing the information demanded by the court.

In pursuance of an Apex Court order, the present matter had earlier been registered by the High Court as a as public interest litigation petition in regard to the recruitment in the police service.

The Apex court had found that absence of timely recruitment of the Police Officers is causing problem in administration and in maintaining the law and order.

Accordingly, the Supreme Court had passed an order giving direction to every High Court to register a Public Interest Litigation for consideration of all the issues before it in reference to the recruitment in police service.

In pursuance of Apex Court’s this direction, an order was passed by the High Court to register the present petition as public interest litigation petition.

Directing the registry to supply a copy of the present order and copy of the order of the Apex Court and the earlier decision of this Court to register it as a public interest litigation petition to the Standing Counsel, court directed for the matter to be listed as fresh on October 19, 2021 as fresh.
